Pet Sitting

We provide care for cats, dogs, small animals, fish, and some livestock, in the comfort of their own home.

Typical sits are a half hour for a single pet, and include feeding, giving fresh water, litter box maintenance, and lots of personal love and attention.

Included as part of the pet sitting visit, we also will turn on/off lights at various times/days, open and close curtains/blinds, bring in your mail and newspaper, water your house plants, put out your trash/ recycling, and do a general check of the premises. This gives your home a lived-in look while you are away.

Medications

Most medications can also be administered for an small extra charge.

House Sitting

House sitting is like a typical pet sit, but can also be done as a stand-alone service.

Overnights

Sometimes people prefer that someone spend the night in the home, either for particular pet needs, or for home security reasons.

Depending on scheduling, some overnight visits can be outside of our normal service area.

Free First Time Consultation Visits

First-time consultation visits are Free! At that time, we meet the pet(s), learn the pet’s routine, likes and dislikes, where pertinent items such as food and supplies are located, go over general instructions, and do the all-important paperwork. This is also a good time to obtain the key, should you decide that you want to go ahead and schedule the sit, otherwise there is a Key Pickup fee.

About Us

Yani / Owner

My name is Yani, and while I started out my career-life as a graphic artist in the corporate medical world, my passion for animals has existed my entire life.

What got me into animal health, was the loss of two cats. I had three cats, and lost two of them to Inflammatory Bowel Disease, within one year of each other. I found it odd that I had two cats, not genetically related, die of the same disease, so I started looking at the common denominators.

I thought my cats were eating healthy food, as I was buying it from supposed upper scale stores. I read everything I could get my hands on from renowned holistic vets around the world, and started to really learn about foods. Dogs and cats are biological beings, just like us, and they need real foods, just like us. Thus started my journey in the world of pet health--not to mention a healthier lifestyle for myself and family, as well.

One day while shopping for raw food for my one surviving cat, I chatted with the owner of a very health-conscious pet supply store. She was impressed with how much I knew about the subject, so I took the opportunity to ask if they were hiring. And voila, I was hired! Things just fell into place, as I had recently quit my corporate job in hopes of finding work that was more personally inspiring. This was the perfect setting to get myself started in the pet health world.

Working at the shop has provided me with numerous troubleshooting and learning opportunities, as people would constantly show up with new and challenging health issues. Teaching people how to provide a healthier food and lifestyle for their furry family members has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my life. I am not exaggerating!

As for pet sitting, I started doing that while working at the shop. Customers would come in and either be searching for a pet sitter, or they would scare us with their stories of how they planned to leave a cat alone while vacationing, at which point we would inform them about the care and safety of a pet sitter. Since I had been doing pet sitting essentially most of my life--watching for friends, family, and neighbors--it was natural that I would start doing it professionally. These days, I have my own full-time professional pet sitting business which I enjoy immensely.

Lucky Pet Petsitting is located in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle, WA, and I basically go to your home and provide the same loving care you would give your furry family members, in your absence. I take care of a variety of animals, including some small hobby farm animals, and try to assimilate the care you normally provide. The idea is that your furry family member will have the same routine and care, thus making your absence less stressful. Also, the advantage of staying in their own home, keeps them from the unnecessary stress of traveling to a kennel, and being in an unknown environment with other animals, some of which might be crying. That can be confusing and scary for some pets.

In a nutshell, I am experienced, professional, caring and trustworthy, as well as licensed, insured and bonded. I hope that you will consider letting me care for your animals!

“Yani has cared for my cat Elliott several times over the last few months, often on fairly short notice. She's reliable and conscientious, always leaving me notes with detailed information about her visits. Elliott loves her and is always relaxed and happy when I get back to town. I'm very comfortable trusting Yani with the welfare of my pet (and with a key to my home.)”

“I have an eleven year old Great Pyrenees dog, Chanel, and thanks to Yani I am able to travel with peace of mind knowing my old girl is well loved and taken care with as I would. Older dogs need a great deal of attention and need to stay on routine and with Yani staying at our house and taking charge we have a happy dog and a well cared for home environment to which we return each time. I trust Yani completely and value her attention and knowledge of animal heath concerns and her practical and effective manner of dealing with problems as they come up. She is always with a sense of humor and easily relates expressions of genuine affection for those in her charge which is wonderful. ”

“I raise exotic bugs which I use for my teaching programs. I also breed rare finches and have a lot of houseplants and garden plants which need careful attention. I am often away from home for a week or more and in the past relied on friends to care for my menagerie.
Yani now takes care of everything when I'm away and I couldn't be more pleased with her services.
Where I used to worry, now I can relax and feel sure that everything is fine at home.
I recommend her with confidence to anyone. ”

“I met Yani 5 or 6 years ago in Seattle at a pet store where she worked and where I buy raw food for my cat (and used to for my dog before he died at age 15). I felt awkward asking neighbors (esp. those who didn’t have any pets), again, to feed my pets while we were away so I asked at the pet store if someone there might be available to hire to do pet care. I was given Yani’s name. Yani was a perfect solution.
I was always happy to pay Yani to come to my home to feed our cat and hamster (hamster needed bedding changed, too) — relieved I didn’t have to board our pets or rely on neighbors. Our pets were always well taken care of. Yani spent some time with our cat, too, rather than merely putting out the food and leaving. Our cat eats raw food so it’s very helpful and reassuring that Yani knows about raw food (quantity, refrigeration, washing up). In addition, Yani brought in our mail and newspaper, watered the indoor plants and outdoor potted plants; and, if asked, put out and brought in the garbage and recycle cans.
I trust Yani with my pets and in my home. I not only trust her with my stuff but I trust her intense love of animals, knowledge and her ability and desire to truly care for my pets. Yani is a thoughtful, caring person.”

“We have used the pet sitting services of Yani Wood for our two cats on a regular basis for the last six years. She has always done an excellent job and both cats know her and feel very comfortable with her. She spends time each day to ensure the cats have company and attention. She is a good observer and will let us know if she thinks anything might be amiss with our pets. She is especially good at giving pills and has taught us a technique that actually works.
We do not hesitate to recommend her to you.”

“Yani cares for all my critters on my small hobby farm. She cares for the ducks, chickens, guinea fowl, rabbits, goat and all the dogs and cats. When I travel I know I can rely on Yani to provide personal care for each of the household animals which includes an aging spoiled housecat who doesn't like to be left alone ever. My home is well cared for as well as the animals. I know I can trust Yani with the wellbeing of each and everyone of my very precious pets. I trust Yani completely and rely on her good sense to oversee them all when I am away. What a relief to not have to worry about their wellbeing when I travel.”
